This is a list of contributed technology created by MIT as part of the CSTR Project.

Services

  • Navigation service. A DNS server that contains as names the TR-IDs of all of the scanned TR's at the five universities, and as values the location of the page images of the corresponding technical reports. Updated weekly.
  • WAIS source of bib records.
  • WWW interface to cs-tr services page. This service constructs, on the fly, an html page that contains buttons for each available page image for a technical report found by a WWW search of RFC1357 records.
  • Archive service. Currently provided by FTP and HTTP.
  • Software

  • tviewer.tar.Z A tiff viewer optimized for managing collections of images, and displaying 300 dpi monochrome g3/g4 compressed images on a color or grey scale screen at 75 or 100 dpi at very high speed. The tviewer is built on the Jet toolkit.
  • The tviewer requires Sam Leffler's tiff library (available via anonymous ftp from sgi.com). The tviewer distribution contains modules that replace certain parts of that tiff library with code optimized for this application. They match the VERSION 3.30 beta, tiff.alpha 002 release.

tviewer is available for anonymous FTP from athena-dist.mit.edu under /pub/elib. You will need both tviewer.tar.Z and jet.tar.Z.

  • Data (available via FTP or HTTP)

  • RFC1357 records. A complete set, updated weekly, of all the bibliographic records of the five cs-tr participants.
  • Laundered RFC1357 records. A set, updated weekly, of all syntactically correct bibliographic records of the five cs-tr participants.
  • Syntactically flaky RFC1357 records. A set, updated weekly, of all syntactically incorrect bibliographic records of the five cs-tr participants.
  • Technical report scanned page images. Standard TIFF/G4FAX scanned images of MIT technical reports, at 600 dpi. These images are derived from original scans at either 300 dpi, 8-bit gray scale (older records) or 400 dpi, 8-but gray scale (newer records).
  • Technical report scan records. A standard record for each technical report, suitable as input to a browser, describing that technical report's pagination, etc.
  • Technical report Postscript. Available for reports issued in the last year or so.
